I moved from Glasgow to Dundee in 2012, and over time, this charming city and the warmth of the East of Scotland truly became my home. When the global pandemic upended our lives, I sought a way to find solace and create a little escape from the uncertainty, and the challenging hospital environment. That desire to bring light into dark times led to the birth of Dundee Candle Works. Despite advice to choose a more generic Scottish name, which I appreciated, I embraced Dundee wholeheartedly. I’m proud to represent this region, and every product we create reflects our deep connection to local heritage and quality.

The Story Behind Our Marmalade Candles

Our journey began with a love for marmalade—the sticky, golden preserve synonymous with Dundee. Inspired by fond memories and the comforting scent of a traditional marmalade treat, we created our very first Marmalade Candle: Marmalade & Lime. This signature scent blends fresh citrus, capturing the crisp, clean aroma that reminds you of home. It’s a fragrance that speaks of both modern sophistication and cherished tradition.

A Journey of Care and Craftsmanship

Creating a vegan, sustainable candle isn’t always easy. I’ve spent countless hours experimenting with different waxes, glassware, and even the perfect cotton wick. Our breakthrough came with our bespoke coconut wax blend—a light, clean-burning formulation that truly stands apart. Every candle is hand-poured in small batches, a labour of love born from a need for comfort during challenging times.

We have now introduced many new fragrances that echo the spirit of Scotland—each one thoughtfully crafted with the same care and commitment. Along the way, we also ventured into reed diffusers, ensuring that every product meets our high standards of quality, sustainability, and authentic Scottish charm.
